Trending: Is The MVS F150 The Next ‘Hot Hatch?’

Love it or hate it, you can’t help but admire the craftsmanship behind the latest “hot hatch” trending on the internet: the Ford F-150 Mustang fastback mashup created by Michigan Vehicle Solutions, MVS.

MVS serves as a one-stop-shop to design, engineer, and fabricate, pretty much anything when it comes to custom vehicle builds. According to The Drive, CEO Rich Oliver adapted an ‘if you build it, they will come’ attitude towards his vision for a fastback bed cap.

“We looked around and saw the lack of innovation out there,” Oliver tells The Drive. “It’s time for a different thing from our grandfathers’ bed caps. The flat tonneau, the shoebox, all that has run its course.”

The 1969 Mustang Mach 1 inspired design, regarded as the ‘Aero X,’ is currently only available for 2015 and newer Ford F150’s.

According to The Drive, the 260-pound fiberglass topper adds a Mustang-inspired sloping roofline and louvered rear window, a lockable clamshell opening for convenient access, and extra options like a built-in sound system.

Will fastback pick up trucks become the next big thing? Only time will tell. But for those interested in adding Mustang looks to their truck, you can select a toper in either a 5 1/2-foot length or a 6 1/2-foot length.

The Aero X attaches using the industry-standard bed clamps like any other bed cap, no modifications are required, and the price starts at $3,995.

If trucks and Mustangs aren’t really your thing, MVS has also created a modern iteration of the Daytona-Superbird based on an exclusive body kit for the latest Dodge Challenger.

The modified Dodge Challenger has been designed for aerodynamic efficiency and improved handling at speed, much like the car it draws its inspiration from, the notorious 1970 Dodge Daytona Superbird.

The kit is custom made to order and includes:

  • Superbird-Daytona Full Nose Kit
  • Superbird-Daytona Three Piece Wing Kit
  • Superbird-Daytona Hood or Shaker Hood (Your Choice)
  • Superbird-Daytona Side Rocker Panels (Optional)
  • Superbird-Daytona Rear Valance
  • Superbird or Daytona Tail Light Covers (Your Choice)
