Race Star Wheels has become an official Product Sponsor of the Real Pro Mod (RPM) association. Race Star’s support spans RPM’s 12-race season within NHRA’s national event schedule starting with the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals held March on 14-17.

“Pro Mods create a lot of excitement in the grandstands when they run down the track,” said L.B. Davis, owner of Race Star. “As Race Star continues to grow its presence at racetracks, we see an alignment with a growing group like Pro Mods to be a great step forward.”

Race Star’s entire line of wheels are available for viewing on the NHRA midway, and RPM racers can also compete for the Race Star Wheels Top Speed Award during qualifying rounds.

Additionally, Race Star Wheels had a successful weekend with their sponsored drivers at NMRA’s opening event in Bradenton, Florida. 

The Race Star team left the competition with two wins, one runner-up, and two semi-final appearances. The event also served as a test for Race Star’s new Race Grip technology, a design feature in select Pro-Forged series wheels.

The Race Grip design does away with the use of screws while preventing tire slippage. Non-bead lock wheels in the Pro-Forged 63 series, except for the 15” and 17” front-runners, are Race Grip equipped. Additionally, the new non-bead lock RSF-1 Pro-Forged 17”x10, 17”x10.5 and 17”x11 wheels are Race Grip enhanced.

Larry Geddes took victory in the Open Comp class, racing his 1990 Mustang on Race Star’s new Pro-Forged 15”x10” polished non-bead lock wheels equipped with Race Grip and 15”x3.5” front runners. “When I took the wheels out of the box, I immediately noticed the difference in how they’re built on the inside,” said Geddes. He used an alignment mark to ensure that the wheel was not slipping as he completed numerous passes over the weekend. He concluded, “No slippage at all, it’s great. Works really well.”

Clair Stewart II, who is competing with the Race Star team for the first time this year, reached the finals in the Coyote Stock class racing his 1991 Mustang on the same Pro-Forged wheel set-up as Geddes. “Once we put the tires on the Race Star wheels this year and got them seated in after a pass or two, the wheels have held really nicely and it takes a lot of rotating mass off the car. We’re really happy with it,” said Stewart.

The Race Star team also includes Kent Nine and his 2006 Mustang in the Limited Street class that also utilizes the same Pro-Forged set-up. He reached the semi-finals and said, “We’re super happy with the car!” Additional event highlights for the Race Star team include Miles Wagoner’s win in the Super Stang class and John Mummery’s semi-finals appearance in the Modular Muscle class.
