New Rumors Contain Details On Upcoming Toyota Supra

Any true JDM fan knows the new 2018 Toyota Supra won’t even be close to comparable to the MkIV and the 2JZ-GTE, but, nonetheless, we are still super excited for its release. It’s been about 8 years since Toyota first started talking about bringing the iconic sports car back– so lets just say it’s been a long time coming.

Since the gossip of a BMW partnership, to what is going to be under the hood, the rumors had died down a little– until just recently, two new (and super important) topics have arose. The details are “unconfirmed,” but are supposedly from a valid source.

A while back, it was leaked that a Toyota representative had mentioned that the upcoming Supra was “not going to be a cheap car.” Now, thanks (again) to the people of the internet, we have an idea of how “not cheap” this thing is actually going to be– roughly $63,500 here in the States, to be exact.

But the Supra’s pricing wasn’t the only thing announced on this forum a couple days back– there were plenty of other details, too. Under the hood, it looks like we will be seeing a turbo’d 3.0-liter inline 6, pushing 335 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. The powerplant paired with the 3,300 pound chassis will result in a zero-to-sixty of 4.5 seconds.

From the 19-inch double 5-spoke wheels, to the blacked out 3-series-esque side mirrors, the images and renderings we have been seeing don’t seem to be too far off from the “real” deal. On the exterior, the car will be fitted with new Supra badges as well as grey and red “GR” badges on the rear, and fake vents for aesthetic purposes only. Surprisingly, the interior is rumored to be quite impressive– featuring black leather seats, a full digital instrument cluster, an iDrive system, navigation, parking assistance, and a steering wheel and shifter similar to those in BMWs.

While we are unsure of how accurate all these details actually are, they sure do get us excited for the release again. Lets just say we can’t wait for the 2019 Detroit Auto Show. ;)
