It was last October, right before SEMA, when the auto enthusiast world got a nice surprised from Fiat Chrysler’s Mopar parts division when they announced that the monstrous 707-horsepower V8 engine from the Dodge SRT Challenger Hellcat and Charger Hellcat would be available to buy as a crate engine. This bit of information sent consumers into a total tizzy. Thanks to Mopar, now anyone with $19,530 could go pickup a complete, ready to drop-in your next classic project car, 707-horsepower Hemi.
While the purchase price is pretty stout, it’s pretty much priced inline with like engines from other auto manufacturers, especially supercharged ones. Even though the price is totally justified, someone over at Mopar Pro Shop has either lost their mind, are feeling crazy generous, or miskeyed a price because they have marked down the hellacious Hellcat crate engine down by $4,532, for a new retail price of $14,998. So, for about the price of a used mini-van, you could have one of the best engines made in recent years.
You will have to come off about $2,000 more bucks to make the engine run, this is because you have to get the odds and engines to make it crank out of the Hellcat Hemi Engine Kit and the Front End Accessory Drive Kit.
If this price has you thinking about it, you’d better act fast, as of the time this article was written, the Mopar Pro Shop only had one of these left in stock. So when they restock the engine, you’re probably not going to get that kind of bargain again, and that’s if they even have any more on order.
