Recently Ford expanded the production run of the vaunted Ford GT supercar. This extension was linked to customer demand, but potential customers of the Blue Oval’s halo machine wanted more of something else as well — carbon fiber. The company is feeding that desire with its lightest street-going supercar yet — the 2019 Ford GT Carbon Series — which is 40 pounds lighter, but still chock full of features.
The Ford GT Carbon Series stands out on the road with its striking carbon fiber-rich design and on the track with its athleticism. — Hermann Salenbauch, Ford Performance
“This is just another example of how we listen to our customers at Ford,” Lance Mosley, marketing manager, Ford Performance, explained. “While the Ford GT Competition model appeals to hardcore racing enthusiasts, we found more customers asking for more exposed carbon fiber with the air conditioning and radio still intact. So we developed the Carbon Series to satisfy that need, while providing a distinct look.”
As such, Ford GTs optioned with the Carbon Series package will feature exposed carbon fiber A-pillars, lower body panels, and stripes. For more flash, buyers can choose an option package that adds one of four accent colors — blue, orange, red or silver — to the center stripe, brake calipers, and mirror caps.
“The Ford GT Carbon Series stands out on the road with its striking carbon fiber-rich design and on the track with its athleticism,” Hermann Salenbauch, global director, Ford Performance, said. “It is yet another example of how we can bring to life our Le Mans-winning supercar in new and exciting ways so our customers can share in that magical legacy.”
The window to submit an application to buy a Ford GT opens on November 8, 2018 and it will remain open for 30 days. If you aren’t familiar with this process, Ford chooses buyers it deems worthy and allows them to select a dealer that will accept delivery of the vehicle. These are rare machines, as only one can be built each week, so get your application in right here and cross your fingers.
