Maybe you’ve heard about the burnout war that’s currently taking place between Australia and the good old US of A.
It turns out that the folks at Hot Rod discovered that Australia held the Guiness Book of World Records, uh record, for the largest burnout, so at the 2013 Power Tour stop at ZMax Dragway in Charlotte, NC, they decided to do something about it. Thanks to all the Power Tour participants, 74 participants lined up on the dragstrip and brought the record back home, beating the old mark by five.
But that didn’t last long. Australia took back the record on January 1 of this year with 103 cars doing a simultaneous burnout at their Summernats event. And actually, it’s pretty cool. Check it out in the video below.
But now it’s our chance to take the record back when the Hot Rod Power Tour makes its stop this Tuesday, June 9, at Memphis International Raceway. The Hot Rod Power tour is expected to bring more than 3,000 classic cars and their drivers to Memphis International Raceway starting at noon. There is an entire day of activity planned at the track with a Manufacturers Midway, autograph sessions with automotive celebrities such as Courtney Hansen of the television series “Overhaulin'” and participation from local businesses such as COMP Cams.
At the center of it all will be the burnout record attempt which is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. So even if you don’t want to take part with your own vehicle, at least make an effort to swing by and cheer everyone on.
