Powerhouse Products GM LS Retrofit Valve Spring Seat and Guide Cutter 4672
A popular upgrade to allow more lift or accommodate a more aggressive roller camshaft when using traditional small-block Chevrolet heads is to retrofit them with LS-style valve springs. This tool will allow customers to machine their cylinder heads for the correct diameter valve spring. Two versions are offered, a 1.340″ seat cutter for 0.500″ guides and a 1.340″ seat cutter for 0.560″ guides. The durable carbide cutting tip material ensures precision and accuracy. The cutter requires the use of an arbor pilot, which is available in four different sizes.

We used this on a set of LT1 heads, and it cuts like butter. We found a set of conical LS springs and adapted them to a set of aluminum LT1 heads. The stock lift capabilities topped out around .475” and we wanted to run a cam with .525” of lift. We used the one for the .560” guide to plane the seats down smooth and level using a quality cordless drill and a proper arbor (not included). The job was finished up using other cutters (sold separately) to shorten the valve guide and then decrease its diameter to fit the new seals. Great product, worked well.
