This is a race we’ve been waiting on since Mopar announced the Jeep Trackhawn. We have been absolutely fascinated with this muscle SUV over the last few months, and have fallen in love with it as it continues to prove itself. While we’ve seen it take down plenty of other SUVs, what we’ve been wanting to do is, is this SUV actually faster, or as fast, as the Challenger Hellcat? This video answers that question, and then some.
Not to ruin it for you if you’re reading this before watching the video, but the answer is, yes, the Trackhawk takes out the Challenger Hellcat, and with ease. As compared to pitting numbers on paper against one another, this is a real-life race that shows exactly why the Jeep Trackhawk is a superior vehicle, and it’s all to do with traction!
While we’re not exactly stunned that the 707-horsepower Jeep Trackhawk with supercharged Hellcat engine was able to hold its own, we didn’t expect it to point out the weak point in the Challenger. It’s no secret that the Challenger Hellcat has issues with rear end kick out, but you’d think the near 1,000 lbs weight difference would keep the car in the running, not so much.
The Dodge Challenger Hellcat takes it on the chin from the start line, and the Hellcat-powered Grand Cherokee continues to widen the gap. This is thanks to the Jeep’s obviously superior standard all-wheel-drive system and the fact that the Challenger can barely leave the line before losing a car length’s worth of traction. Are you surprised by the outcome?
