Over the weekend, the car known as TopCat, a 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, became the first automatic to make it into the 8-second range. We just reported about the car that knocked the TopCat out of the top spot, but Josh Schwartz’s HPP-built car has done it once again, and went all in to raise the bar to new heights.

This car has been quite the hero in the Dodge community; it was originally owned by John “TopCat” Toutkoushian, until he passed away in 2016. His wife, Linda, then took on the task to finish what her husband had started. Before he passed, John wanted to get his car into the 8s, and Linda made sure that happened with the help of Josh Schwartz of High Horsepower Performance.

Powering the TopCat Challenger is a supercharged 6.2L Hemi engine with HHP/BES ported heads, HHP/BES custom camshaft, HHP/BES ported blower housing, 2.65 upper pulley, Nitrous Outlet plate with 150hp jets, ATI overdrive damper, HHP dual pump setup, ID1000 fuel injectors, American Racing Headers, ARH mufflers, and a Q16 tune from Josh at HPP and AJ from Hemituner Performance.

The 8-speed automatic transmission in the Challenger Hellcat has been built up by Southern Hot Rod, and is backed by a ProTorque torque converter. It rides on a set of HHP Santhuff Race shocks, HPP Ultralight 15” drag wheels, and Mickey Thompson 275 Street Radial Pro tires.

Not only is the TopCat Challenger the first automatic Challenger in the 8s, it has edged out the Epling Garage team’s manual Hellcat for the title of the fastest Hellcat in the world. The record now stands at 8.883 @ 154.99-mph in the 1/4 mile.
