SPEED Social Garage and Hagerty Fantasy Bid game highlight the Southern California collector-car auction experience, from June 22 through June 24.
SPEED continues its grand slam of Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event coverage with the third-annual Orange County, Calif., auction from the OC Fair & Event Center.
The live, high-definition broadcast, which includes the popular Hagerty Fantasy Bid Game and SPEED Social Garage, begins Friday, June 22 at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT, and spans 16 hours throughout the weekend.
“Once again, the World’s Greatest Collector Car Auction returns to the world’s greatest collector-car marketplace,” said Rick Miner, SPEED Senior VP of Production, Network Operations and Executive Producer. “Barrett-Jackson and Southern California are like Henry Ford and the Model T, a perfect match.”
To participate in the SPEED Social Garageduring live auction coverage, viewers can log onto Facebook or keep up via Twitter through the @BarrettOnSPEED handle and the #BJA2012 hash tag.
In addition to the on-air team, SPEED.com Editor-In-Chief Tom Jensen (@tomjensen100) and Automotive Editor Bob Golfen (@BobGolfen) are providing auction insights, looking at collector-car trends and answering audience questions.
As the truck market continues to explode, so does the demand for next-level machinery. Lot 376.1 fills the bill nicely; standout group of builders created a spectacular 1957 Chevrolet Sidestep pickup. A graphically enhanced Jason Rushforth black-and-silver paint scheme shot by K-Daddy Customs of Bakersfield, Calif., overlays the Rick Dore Customs soda-blasted body. Its black interior was designed and detailed by Kip Kuiper. The vehicle is powered by a General Motors ZZ4 350cid V8 crate engine, a Phoenix Transmissions automatic, a 20-gallon fuel tank and 18-inch Billet Specialties wheels.
To check out all the vehicles on the Orange County docket, along with complete auction information, log onto Barrett-Jackson.com.
Contestants can also enter via mobile device by sending an SMS text message to 773333 (SPEED 3) with a “fantasy bid” during applicable bidding times. To place a bid, enter the amount of your bid in dollars without punctuation.
For Barrett-Jackson Orange County, 15 cars will cross the block as part of the Hagerty Fantasy Bid Game. The grand prize, awarded at the end of the auction, is a 55-inch Samsung 3D LED LCD high-definition television. Second overall wins a Sony Flash Camcorder, while third overall grabs a 7-inch multi-touch Kindle Fire Color with Wi-Fi.
Those who amass the most points per day receive a $500 gas card, and a new 16-gigabyte Apple iPad is awarded to each per-car winner.
