With all the bad weather last month, we’ll cross our fingers for plenty of warm sunshine and try Somernites Opening Weekend 2017, Part II for the May 26-27th show in Somerset, KY!
For those that stayed home last month, you’ll get the chance to cruise your ride at Somernites for the first time in 2017. So, get ’em washed, waxed and gassed up! The May show is going to be busting at the seems with plenty to see and do.

 Somernites Cruise is excited to welcome back the 17 Time World Champion Drag Racing Legend “Big Daddy” Don Garlits “Big Daddy” will be signing autographs at the Show & Shine in downtown Somerset on Saturday May 27th. If you have memorabilia you would like signed, we encourage you to bring it with you. Don will also have his own official merchandise available for purchase. And YES, he will be firing up the Swamp Rat XXII Top Fuel Dragster to rattle a few windows! Don’t miss it.

| May Showcase Corral features Mopar Mania! |
 Each month our Showcase Corral inside the Show & Shine features a different make or model and this month we offer you Mopar Mania!All Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth and even those distant Mopar cousins, the AMC, Willys and Nash brands are invited to cruise into Somernites for this special event. Trucks and wagons welcome too!
We even have a special VIP entrance gate located on the south end of downtown. It’s for Mopars ONLY! We can park your club together if you cruise in as a group and banners/signs to ‘show your colors’ are welcome!
***Enter the Mopar Mania gate from light #11 on US 27. If traveling north, turn RIGHT. If you’re headed south, turn LEFT. Then LEFT AGAIN (on to Monticello Street) at the next light and continue to the entrance gate.

| Don Marshall All Mopar Pre-Party and Show! | |
| Don’t miss the Annual All Mopar Show on Sat. morning, May 27th. From 10:00am-12:30pm at Don Marshall Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram! All Mopar owners are invited to cruise into their lot located ‘on the strip’ at 1147 S Highway 27 in Somerset, between lights #10 and #11. The event features food, contests and People’s Choice Awards. Be sure to register your classic Mopar for the competition when you arrive (inside at receptionist desk). Winners will be announced at Noon.Special promotions will be available to spectators and car owners including 10% off all performance parts and $500 off the purchase price of any new or pre-owned Dodge with a minimum value of $6000. These deals are only good during this event.
Special visit from the man, “Big Daddy” Don Garlits as well. Admission to the Don Marshall event is FREE and everyone is invited to attend. This beautiful 1955 Chevy Bel-Air is the Somernites raffle car for 2017. The car features a Chevy V8, Vintage Air, Auto transmission and a classic color combo inside and out. It’s a great cruiser and definitely turns heads. Tickets are available for purchase at all Somernites shows and also online now by CLICKING HERE!
Your ticket purchase helps keep Somernites free for everyone. Drawing will be held at the final show of the year on Oct. 28. You do NOT need to be present to win. We will contact the winner. But, it’s a lot more fun if you are there!

Thursday, May 25th, 7pm-???, Tune-up Cruise-In at Steak n’ Shake on US 27 at stoplight #16a. An informal gathering of hot rods and storytellers. Some tasty treats as well!
Friday, May 26th, 10:00am-2:00pm, Somernites Meet & Greet at Danny’s Rod Shop approx. 3 miles north of Somerset on US 27. Free t-shirts and dash plaques to the first 50 classic rides to register, free goodie bags. DJ Gleason “Iceman” Humphreys, free Coke products and much more!
Friday, May 26th, 6:00-10:00pm, Friday Night Thunder Block Party at Somerset Mall (light #23 on S. US 27), co-sponsored by Walmart. Hundreds of hot rods, live band, great food, inflatables for the kids and a lots of fun! Visit the Somerset Mall stores as well. Bring your lawnchair and enjoy the evening. Free admission!
Saturday, May 27th, 8-9:00am, Saturday Morning Fun Run participants meet at Hardees South (stoplight #22 on US 27) for a FREE breakfast (Fun Run participants only) before heading out to our May destination… The Old Mill at Mill Springs featuring the world’s largest overshot working waterwheel dating from 1817. Beautiful scenery on this Fun Run!
