Michael Cole has a Dodge Hellcat Challenger that he took down the 1/4-mile at 9.05 seconds to snag the title of quickest automatic equipped Hellcat in the world. The beauty of this car is that it’s likely not even tapped out, this car probably has the capabilities of running 8s.

The quickest overall Hellcat car in the world is equipped with a Liberty manual transmission, dubbed the 007 Car, owned and raced by Leon, Jason and Logan Epling who make up the Epling Garage team. This three-pedal machine has Cole’s auto beat with a 8.91 @ 156.14 mph, which isn’t that much faster, all things considered.

Back to Michael Cole’s record-setting glory, this car isn’t even heavily modified. It has the factory 8-speed automatic transmission in stock form, and factory 2.62 rear gearing; the only thing that’s been modified on the driveline is the addition of a differential brace and tune of the shift points. He swapped over to smaller smaller brakes to accommodate the 15” race wheels and fat rear tires. The suspension is also race-ready so the car works its way down the track more efficiently.

The supercharged 6.2L Hellcat Hemi is not stock, but it’s not wildly modified either. Cole has upgraded to a smaller upper pulley, added a nitrous kit, and E85 tune from Injected Engineering. That’s pretty much it for the modifications; the blower, heads, cams, rotating assembly, and block are all stock. The final note about the modifications is that he’s added a rollcage, harness, and parachute, but those aren’t exactly beneficial to performance.

This run went down during the Modern Street Hemi Shootout finals at Atco. He had hopes of breaking into the 8s, but a nitrous backfire in the burnout box cut the weekend short. Michael Cole is heading back to the track with his newly rebuilt blower from Jon Bond Performance. Cole could easily take the fastest overall Hellcat record, so we’ll be watching this car closely over the next few months!
