While it’s not happening just yet, the Dodge Charger and Challenger models will reach the end of their generations in the next few years. In the meantime, Charger fans want Mopar to start planning to roll in a badder lineup next go-round.

The Challenger lineup is pretty well-rounded; it includes the AWD Challenger GT, Challenger Hellcat, widebody, and Challenger Demon. On the other side of the field, you have the higher selling Charger, with only one special performance model, the Charger Hellcat. What people want to see if a lineup more inline with the Challenger offerings.

Let’s also talk about the fact that the Charger SRT Hellcat is the quickest, fastest, and most powerful gasoline-powered sedan on the planet. If Dodge throws in another up model, they could take the spot as the fastest sedan (including battery) away from the Tesla Model S PD100 in the quarter-mile. If Dodge throws the Demon powertrain into the Charger, it would get it there.

The argument could be made that there’s no way Dodge is going to make a track-centric sedan with poor street manners, but they could borrow some engineering from the Trackhawk to make it streetable.

Charger fans would also like to see a widebody variant, even if a Charger Demon isn’t in play. The takeaway from all this is that people want more options in the Charger line, and they want them to be presented in a high-performance way.
