The premier Pro Touring and G Machine event will return to the Minnesota State Fairgrounds July 17-19, 2015 with a new name, the Street Machine Challenge. This is the super-enthusiast’s chance to show off their car’s braking, handling, and horsepower-generating abilities against the best cars in the nation as part of the O’Reilly Auto Parts Street Machine Nationals in St. Paul, MN.
Media Coverage
The editors of Power & Performance News, Street Rod Life Magazine, GearHeads4Life, RPM Magazine and Power Nation TV’s Detroit Muscle will be on hand to cover all of the weekend’s action with print, digital and in-program television coverage.
Jeff Smith Returns
Jeff Smith – long time event organizer – will return to host the challenge as part of his new role as editor of Power & Performance News, an Xceleration Media brand.
All competitors MUST also register to compete in the Street Machine Challenge.
Registration for the Street Machine Challenge is available online, is an additional $50 and is limited to 35 competitors. Street Machine Challenge applicants will be notified approximately 2 weeks out from the event as to the status of their registration.
Event organizers will select cars from three specific classes to compete at the Street Machine Nationals. Once selected, competitors will receive an official invitation to the Street Machine Challenge. All competitors will receive a special Street Machine Challenge windshield banner.
The Street Machine Challenge overall winner will receive a winner’s jacket, a trophy and special recognition at the Sunday participant awards ceremony. The winner will also receive media coverage on TV with Detroit Muscle and in print/digital with Power & Performance News, Street Rod Life, Gear Heads 4 Life and RPM Magazine.
The Contest: Each vehicle will compete in the Stop Box, the Hotchkis Autocross course, and the Lucas Oil Dyno competition where each vehicle will be tested for maximum horsepower on the chassis dyno. To be eligible for the crown, you must compete in all three events.
Points: The Top Three finishers in any one class will receive 10-30 points for their respective positions using the best time or horsepower number depending on the event. The car with the most points out of 90 wins the Street Machine Challenge for each class. Cars finishing out of the Top Three will receive zero points. DNF and DNS entries will receive 0 points. If there is a tie, the car with the most HP on the dyno wins. DNF or DNS on the dyno count as zero hp.
Rules: All Competitors and vehicles must adhere to the rules and regulations set by the autocross sanctioning body (SCCA) and the Lucas Oil Products dyno contest. Exceptions to the rules are as follows:
