If you held out to get a Challenger Hellcat until the 2019 models came out — smart move! New spy photos from AutoGuide and information seem to point to Dodge coming out with a Drag Pack model for 2019 on the 392, Hellcat, and widebody edition Challengers. This Drag Pack model will give the Hellcat a hefty 725-horsepower, which softens the blow a little that the Dodge Challenger Demon seems to have really just been a one year model hit, and won’t be back for another run anytime soon.
As Dodge has eluded to, new Challenger trim packages will embody the spirit of the Demon, and it’s suspected that the Drag Pack Challengers would use up to 75% of the Challenger Demon’s parts. The spotted prototypes have the narrow body of the Hellcat, with a Demon hood, which only fuels our curiously. What we really want to know is, will this new trim include the transbrake? After all, that was one of the options that really got drivers and critics worked up over the Demon, it was would a damn shame if Dodge didn’t lend the technology to any other models.
The Challenger base model isn’t getting any major upgrades for 2019, which has a few Challenger enthusiasts wondering when one will come. Really, nothing has majorly changed about the model with the exception of the introduction of more engine options and trim levels, so it’s starting to feel a little too familiar. Even the Hellcat itself is becoming a tad stale, so we wouldn’t be surprised if Dodge gave us something to talk about in the form of something like the Drag Pack.
