It has been a long time since we first started talking about the mid-engine Corvette, and we’re learning more definitive things about the mid-engine. The mid-engine Corvette will arrive as a C8 Zora platform and arrive at the Detroit Auto Show in January of 2018. Actual production will start in the fall season of 2018.

Some enthusiasts are pretty ruffled at the idea of a mid-engine Corvette, but it may be more of a fear of the unknown that has them uneasy. Appearance wise, the main differences will be an elongated rear and smaller dash to axle ratio.

Perhaps the most confusing thing about the Zora is that it will be sold alongside the C7. This is create competition between the platforms, but also attract a new kind of customer that GM has always struggled to gain. The most exciting news in the C7 territory is that the ZR1 is on its way, so Chevy will certainly be on top of the American sports car game with these two new offerings.
