Volume 8, Issue 2 – Summer 2017 print edition of Power & Performance News
Our red hot Summer issue of Power & Performance News is now available online! Like always, this issue is packed with cool cars, interesting personalities, and cutting edge technical articles that will appeal to enthusiasts of all skill levels.
Front and center is the awesome Big Red Camaro of RJ Gottlieb. Having mastered the biggest events in flat-line speed contests including a 253mph performance at the Mojave Mile last year, the Big Red team now sets its sights on the legendary Pikes Peak Hill Climb. Our detailed eight-page feature sheds light on the cars amazing history and the technical aspects that make this steel-bodied ’69 Z/28 RS “outlaw” racecar one-of-a-kind.
This issue’s On Tour feature retraces the roads taken by the production company back in 1971 while filming the cult classic, Vanishing Point. Our hero (an author), Richard Truesdale collected a pair of Challengers, a 1970 426 hemi and a current generation 2010 Challenger, and set off from Denver in quest of the west coast. The feature includes plenty of great scenery and some amazing stories from the production notes used in the creation of this “road warrior” film.
As is always a focus at PPN, this issue includes an amazing array of technical articles ranging from a Baer Brakes upgrade for late model Mustangs that eliminates 40 lbs of weight to Jeff Smith’s complete guide to Swapping LS-engine Automatic Transmissions. Richard Holder does a great job of answering the question, “Which is better, Boost or Bolt Ons?” and we even learn how to install flush mounted windows on classic muscle cars courtesy of Chadly Johnson.
Ford fans will relish the eye candy to be found in this issue including a review of the newest of the 2017 Hurst R-Code Mustang along with a look in the backyard of Boss Mustang collector Mike Venarde highlighted by a review of his sequentially numbered ’69 Boss 302 Mustangs. For added color, the issue includes a twin Torqstorm supercharged ’69 AMX and the perfectly restored Hemi Charger of Ted Wolff.
It’s all in the Summer issue of Power & Performance News – available now!
