Vanilla might seem plain, but it is the most popular flavor of ice cream — this plain vanilla Fairlane is anything but plain!

What do you get when you mix a powerful engine with a light bodies car? Fun, you get fun. Ford probably had a good idea of this when they set out to make it happen with the 1966 427 Fairlane. It may not have the flash that some cars of the era did, but it does give itself away with the aggressive scooped lift-off hood and 427 badges on the fenders.

This Fairlane is put together with lightweight aluminum and fiberglass panels all around, and isn’t stocked with weight adding creature comforts. That makes the R-Code dual 4bbl side-oiler 427 that much more effective. This engine makes 425 horsepower, thanks to high compression and a lumpy cam, and it’s backed by a 4-speed manual transmission that feeds into a rear with snappy 3.89:1 gears.

Ford only made 57 of these in 1966, so naturally it’s right at home in the Brothers Collection.
