We love practically all the cars shows that have been popping up lately. Some may be better than others, but in our humble opinion they are all better than teenage vampires, housewives yelling at each other or another singing contest.
The latest is a humorous take on our favorite hobby with the fantastic name of Fat N’ Furious: Rolling Thunder. The show premieres this Monday at 10 and according to Discovery Channel “follows the antics of the hilarious, large-and-in-charge car junkies of Christmas Automotive as they boost business by hunting down left-for-dead cars and bringing them back to life. Helping Tommy along the way are his three best friends: Steve, Chuck and Andy – the only thing bigger than their love for race cars is their appetite. The team rebuilds these classics, gets them running and puts the pedal to the metal on the track – often for extra profit! Fixing up old cars is always challenging, but when fast equals cash, every second counts.”
But what really has us interested to check in for the premiere is the fact that the show is including hardcore professional drag racers. National drag racing standouts Tom and Ryan Martino of Martino Motorsports in Youngstown, Ohio will be trading in the NHRA quarter-mile for a guest appearance on an upcoming episode. And this isn’t a simple cameo–the Martino’s actually had to miss a few racing events because their involvement with this new show was so involved.
“Tom, Chuck, Andy, Steve, and the rest of the Christmas Automotive crew were fun to work with on this project. We literally just picked up our new dragster from paint at R&R Auto Body and were getting it prepped for assembly when Christmas and his crew showed up at our shop. Bottom line is that in between the constant jokes and non-stop entertainment they provide, these guys know cars inside and out and know how to get them to flat out perform” adds Tom Martino, the 40+ year veteran to the sport of drag racing.
