Car guy Tom Costain says he wound up with this fantastic 1950 Buick Special about six-and-a-half years ago when he was searching for a Buick grill.
But why settle for the grill when you can have the whole car?
Since winning the car on eBay Costain has reworked practically everything but the paint. He says the original Straight 8 engine was locked up, so he replaced it with a Cadillac 500 mill. The front now rides on a Nova subframe, and the rear of the car has a new four-link suspension. Coilover springs on all four corners also allow him to lower the car to the perfect stance you see now.
This video was shot by the folks at Holley when Costain brought his Buick Special to the Holley National Hot Rod Reunion last year. (And if you haven’t been to this show it definitely should be on your bucket list.) Every great car has a story, and we enjoyed hearing Costain tell this one.
