The folks of Pleasanton, California, hosted hot rods from around the greater northern California region as the Goodguys West Coast Nationals kicked off its 26th year. Since this was the west coast, you can gather that the show is overrun with sweet street rods, coupes, A’s, high boys, sedans and customs. We’ve included a few shots of some engines that show to get your revs going.
The quality of these cars drives the mercury way up the scale. In fact, by the end of the day you may find yourself in a ‘too cool coma’ and not really realize how nice the car you just walked by was built. It wasn’t until we were sitting on a patio enjoying a bite that two ’32s rolled up. At the show, we may have just walked right by these two beautiful rods but seeing them parked on the street in a sea of late model routine plastic, they were awesome.
This year, Goodguys hosted 20 events across the country from Washngton to North Carolina. This was the 26th West Coast Nationals, their second oldest event. Their oldest is also held in Pleasanton, but in the spring and celebrated 30 years in 2012.
It’s nearly September so there’s only a few key months of cruising your classic left (at least for those in the Midwest). Goodguys still has seven more events for 2012 with the next one this coming Labor Day weekend at the Kansas City Speedway followed one at Indianapolis Motor Speedway the weekend of Sept 21. You can check out the remainder of the events at www.good-guys.com.
